FREE SCHOOL 

According to World Bank data, Cambodia's multidimensional poverty rate was 34.9% in 2018. Since then, the impact of covid-19 has exacerbated the situation and led to higher poverty rates in urban areas. Siem Reap province, where JB School is located, has Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site, and attracts many tourists from all over the world. The number of tourists decreased sharply due to the covid-19 disaster, and hotels and restaurants around Angkor Wat were hit hard. Parents of children attending JB School have also been hit hard by the economic downturn across the state.
Also, JB School was visited by tourists from overseas almost every day and received donations to fund the operation of the school.
 
At JB School, we mainly teach English. This is because there are many jobs related to tourism in this district.
Director JB is also a licensed tourist guide. Tourist guides are paid more than police officers, and you can get a job even after graduating from high school. Children in impoverished areas cannot go to college for financial reasons. There are few jobs for them to choose from, creating a cycle of poverty. JB School wants to stop the cycle of poverty. One way we can do it is to teach English to children. If you can speak English, you will be able to choose a career related to tourism and get out of poverty. Cambodian children are studying desperately for the future.
 
All tuition fees at JB School are free and open to the public. A poor family who has to live on $ 1.9 per person a day. It is impossible to raise the cost of cram school to get out of there. In order to get out of poverty and for the future of children, JB School continues to provide English education free of charge.
 
 
世界銀行のでーたによると、カンボジアの多次元貧困率は2018年に34.9％でした。その後、新型コロナウイルスの影響で、状況は悪化し都市部での貧困率も高くなっています。JBスクールがあるシェムリアップ州は、世界遺産のアンコールワットがあり、世界中から多くの観光客を集めていました。コロナ禍により観光客は激減し、アンコールワット周辺のホテル、飲食店は大きな打撃を受けました。JBスクールに通う子どもたちの両親も、州全体の経済が落ち込んだことでダメージを受けたいます。
またJBスクールも、海外からの観光客が毎日のように立ち寄り、スクール運営資金の寄付をいただいていましたが、これが無くなり運営資金が苦しくなっています。
JBスクールでは、主に英語を教えています。なぜなら、この地区では観光に関係する職が多いからです。

ディレクターのJBも、観光ガイドの免許を持っています。観光ガイドは、警察官より給与が多く、高校卒業でも職に就けます。貧困地区の子どもたちは、経済的理由で大学に進学できません。彼らが選べる職業は少なく、貧困の連鎖が起きています。JBスクールは、貧困の連鎖を止めたいと考えています。私達の出来る一つの方法が、子どもたちに英語を教えること。英語が話せれば、観光関係の職業を選ぶことが出来るようになり、貧困から抜け出すことが出来ます。カンボジアの子どもたちは、未来のために必死に勉強をしています。
 
JBスクールの授業料は全て無料で、開放しています。1日1人1.9ドルで生活しなくてはならない貧困家庭。そこから抜け出すために、塾の費用を捻出することは不可能です。貧困家庭から抜け出すために、こどもたちの未来のために、JBスクールでは無償での英語教育を続けています。
